The
SID strives to offer programming that reaches all members of the
dermatology community—from researchers and clinicians to residents
and members of industry.
New programs are in development to position the SID as a resource
all of our colleagues can count on to deliver the latest in
cutting-edge dermatologic science.
SID launches
project on The Burden of Skin Disease Co-Morbidities
with Washington, DC conference
Late last year SID launched its new project on The Burden of Skin
Disease Co-Morbidities. The project is a follow-up to the
Burden of Skin Disease Report released in 2005.
The purpose of the project is to examine the state of the science on
non dermatologic co-morbidities of dermatologic conditions in order
to develop a research agenda and make other recommendations bearing
on public and professional education.
SID’s program will be launched by a one and a half day invited
conference scheduled for October 15-16, 2008 in Washington, DC.
Attendees will include representatives from academia, government and
industry. Presentations will include state-of-the art research on
the disease associations with a focus on the following pairings:
·
Dermatotoxicity (Acute
and late effects on skin, hair and nails as a result of treatments
for non-dermatologic disease), with a focus in oncology
·
Dermatologic disease
and psychiatric disease
·
Cutaneous disease and
cardiovascular disease, with a focus on psoriasis
