SID History

Since its founding in 1937, the SID has grown in both size and scope. To this day, the Society maintains its commitment to cultivating a community of discovery. The year 2012 was a milestone for the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID). It marked the 75^th Anniversary of the Society. Since its humble beginnings of a small scientific meeting in 1937, the SID has forged a solid position at the forefront of groundbreaking scientific research, to publishing the premier dermatology journal with our sister society, the European Society for Dermatological Research.

Our membership has grown in size and diversity during the past eight decades, and we took the anniversary as an opportunity to showcase the past contributions of our members, and highlight our Society’s current and emerging, innovative research in skin health and disease. A series of interviews was conducted during 2010 and 2011 to capture some of the recollections of ‘Dermatology Greats’.
