Duke University Medical Center is offering a one to two year melanocytic neoplasms fellowship with Dr. Kelly Nelson
 

The fellowship would offer training in the clinical evaluation and management of patients with high-risk melanocytic neoplasms, including the utilization of total body photography, dermoscopy, and reflectance confocal microscopy.

Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in a strong multidisciplinary melanoma program, with exposure to research projects leveraging dermatopathology and surgical oncology collaboration.  Fellows will manage several retrospective database studies and prospective reflectance confocal imaging studies.  

  
The start date will be July 2011.  Candidates must have a medical degree from a recognized university, at least one year of internship, and eligibility to obtain a North Carolina training license.   Please email Dr. Kelly Nelson (

Job Description
Conducts research directed toward discovery and/or development on a large research and development project or a number of small projects with many complex features under minimal supervision using established and novel technology.  Works toward the identification, assessment and development of new scientific concepts and technologies.  Works independently to perform research of a complex nature where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of various identifiable factors in one or more areas.  Practices continuous improvement in the development of new or refined materials, processes, products and/or scientific procedures.  Ensures quality conduct of projects, including design, data summary and interpretation, report and manuscript preparation and review and adh erence to applicable regulations.  Makes decisions regarding analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and arriving at timely technical decisions.  Modifies methodology to improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of data.  Records accurately information obtained in projects. Ensures that records and raw data are properly retained.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Masters Degree with a minimum Five years of professional experience, or a PhD Degree with a minimum of Three years of professional experience is required.  Previous experience in working within a Consumer business is preferred.  Previous experience in working within the Skin platform is required.  Previous experience in Designing and directing clinical trials is required.  Experience is formally Managing and/or leading a team is preferred.  Experience in Partnering and/or supporting the following business groups is preferred: Marketing, Biology, Advanced Technologies, Models and Methodologies, and/or Baby.  Position may require up to 10% overall travel.
