SID opens Washington, DC office
At their fall 2007 strategic planning retreat the SID Board and Long Range Planning Committee discussed the importance of SID raising visibility and recognition of not only the organization but dermatologic research in general.  As an outgrowth of those discussions, the Board approved the opening of an SID satellite office in Washington DC.  On January 15 SID opened its new quarters at 1828 L St. NW.

SID administrative staff will remain in Cleveland, Ohio.  In the meantime SID has begun discussions with the AADA about how the two organizations can open a joint DC office in 2009.

SID members can now access their records online
As part of the new technology initiative underway at the SID, an online database of all members has been created.

About the SID

Founded in 1937, the Society for Investigative Dermatology is a professional membership organization serving scientists and physicians working in academic settings, researchers in government and industry, practicing dermatologists, residents and fellows, and members of the lay community interested in skin research. The SID has a worldwide membership of 1700 and publishes The Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID)—the premier journal dedicated to research in cutaneous biology.

The SID’s mission is to advance and promote the sciences relevant to skin health and disease through education, advocacy and scholarly exchange of scientific information.

Working under this mission, the SID is committed to fostering scientific careers for young researchers, increasing public and government awareness about the need to support skin research, working with industry in the development of new technologies and cooperative ventures, and encouraging scientific collaborations among researchers worldwide.
