The SID began the process of putting together a new strategic plan for the organization in the Fall of 2023. The Board of Directors approved the “Accelerating Discovery” plan in May of 2024 and the goals and tactics will soon be displayed below. We look forward to your feedback and will respond to you inquiries via email at sid@sidnet.org.

Letter from the Executive Committee
The SID has grown successfully in terms of resources and endowments over the past 20 years and remains the pre-eminent skin scientific organization.
The last SID strategic plan was created in 2003 and a revision has been overdue. The timing of this strategic plan is favorable given the challenges associated with changes in the academic workforce, the absence of increases in federal funding, and new opportunities created by the rapid evolution of technology, instrumentation, computational methods, and AI to advance science.
The Board & Executive team committed to this important initiative with the goal of assuring that the SID addresses the needs and scientific interests of its evolving constituency. The charge was to create a contemporary and dynamic plan that will reflect the significant and ongoing changes in academics and discovery. In addition, a major goal is to ensure that the strategic plan promotes inclusivity and equity.
We hope we have created a useful living plan in anticipation that it can be referred to frequently, and applied in the appropriate contexts of investigation, clinical care, and trainee education. We hope that this plan will be visible and used in many of the SID contexts: our website, annual meetings, relevant SID workgroups and committees, and more.
Sincerely,
The SID Board of Directors, 2024
